About Us
Our Story
In 2002, owner Ted Blanton, who had worked as the manager since 1999, took over the reins of Health Trail Natural Foods which was started in 1974. He had started by working on an organic farm in 1984 and fell in love with sustainable agriculture. In 1986 he began working at a health food store, and in 1987 began managing it. Then he worked for a larger store, and then a chain of health foods stores. Hampton Roads has been a nice place to raise a family, and we are grateful for the community's support. The vast majority of money spent at a small family business stays in the community. When you shop at a big box store it the majority leaves the community, and we believe corporate culture is often profit driven not quality focused. Help us serve for the next 50 years and guide us in improving our store that is here for you.
